The purpose of this lab is to find a relationship between mass (m) and Period (T) for an inertial balance.
This is a picture of the system after it was set up. A piece of tape was place at the end of the system, passes through a photo-gate which measures the period(T) of each cycle.
This Data table shows eight different trials, We started with 0 g and incremented 100 grams each time until we reached 800 g. The data table shows the period increasing as the mass increased.
This graphs shows period (T) v.s Mass.
We linearized the function above by taking the log of the function in order to get a line.
This graph represents Ln(T) v.s. Ln(mass+mTray). The slope is .6654, and it has a correlation of .999.
